A Word From The Founder


"After experiencing amputation first hand, I wanted to create an organization that would assist amputees in obtaining prosthetics. I was born with a foot deformity, and after undergoing thirty surgeries aimed at correction, the problem remained. In June of 2002, I made the difficult decision to have my leg amputated below the knee. I encountered many difficulties while trying to purchase my first prosthetic because my insurance did not cover the cost. Fundraisers were held to
raise the money needed for the purchase. This is a struggle I am destined to face again, as prosthetics need to be replaced as often as every 3-5 years. It is through this foundation that I wish to alleviate stress to amputees with whom I relate so well. The need for prostheses throughout the world is an issue that needs to be recognized and I feel that with our assistance, many people may be reached and many lives made better."

The Limbs of Hope Foundation, founded in October 2003, is a 501 (C ) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of amputees throughout the world. Through our various programs, we believe that we can reach our goal of improving the quality of life for those affected by limb loss.

Our individual objectives include, but are not limited to:

The collection of prostheses, both new and used, to be distributed to those in need. Provision of recreational opportunities for amputees with emphasis placed on individuals in developing countries. Funding construction on sufficient rehabilitation clinics and also improving existing clinics.

We reach these goals with the help of our community. It is through fund-raising efforts and donations that we are able to make these steps toward relief. We are working to become established throughout the world, that we might become a permanent force in the war against human suffering.

The Limbs of Hope Foundation is composed of volunteers who strongly support our cause. With help, we are capable of changing the world for the better. In these times of fear and instability, we choose to offer a ray of light, a limb of hope…
